Steven Golding

A strong proponent of African Nationalism and a strident member of Marcus Garvey's Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA); Steven Golding is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, the United World College of the American West, and Campion College.
Before being elected President of the UNIA Kingston Division in Jamaica, Golding served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the New York Division of the UNIA. While living in New York City he operated the Gishen Café - an Ethiopian Bar and Restaurant in Harlem, designed to bring continental Africa culture to the historic African American community.

In 2000 Golding launched www.NegroWorld.com: http://www.negroworld.com an online magazine fashioned from the Negro World newspaper founded in Harlem by the Right Excellent Marcus Garvey in 1918.  Returning to Jamaica in 2003 Golding continued to work for a number of years in the Food & Beverage industry serving as Operations Manager for his family owned business- Honey Crust Bakery.

In 2006 he started the cutting edge community radio talk program "The Corner" on Newstalk 93FM.  It is a roving perpetual outside broadcast that visits various communties across the island each for one week allowing the people a voice to air their issues and share their ideas towards strengthening the nation.  The Corner with Steven "Jr. Bangarang" Golding and his co-host Empress can be heard weekdays between 2:30 and 5:00pm only on Newstalk 93FM.

Steven Golding also serves on the Board of Directors for a number of institutions and corporations, among them: the African Caribbean Institute of Jamaica; St. Tekle Haimanot Basic School; the Edna Manley School of the Arts; the Jamaica National Council for the United World Colleges; the African Orthodox Church in Harlem; and the African Communities League (Jamaica).

He is the current UNIA High Commissioner & Ambassador to Jamaica and in that
capacity has established the Resource Branch of the UNIA in South Manchester, the Marcus Garvey Culture Club at the MICO University College as well as launched the UNIA juvenile program in various schools across the island.
